Program Overview
Students in our Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) acquire the knowledge and skills related to installing, servicing, and repairing heating and air conditioning systems. Students begin by learning about workplace safety and earning their OSHA certification before moving into basic construction skills. During the first semester, students focus on building a foundation of construction math and measurement, as well as becoming comfortable with a range of hand and power tools. In the second semester, students are introduced to electrical principals and systems with a particular focus on HVAC equipment. They also gain familiarity with piping and fittings, including an introduction to soldering and brazing.
In Year 2 and 3 of the the program, students gain experience with a wide range of home and commercial HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and trouble-shooting.
After completion of the program, students may choose to continue their learning at Austin Community College or find employment with one of our local trade unions.
