Senior Transition Program

For the past two years, Clifton CDS has been excited to partner with the Austin ISD Special Education Department to pilot a new transition program for the district.  The program is geared towards current high school seniors and IEP continuers as they prepare to leave Austin ISD.  Students are enrolled in General Employability Skills during the fall semester and Student-to-Industry Connection in the spring semester, which are designated as Career and Technical Education (CTE) Innovative Courses.  As with all other Clifton courses, these classes are double-blocked, so students will earn two CTE credits by the end of the year.

Coursework includes a combination of in-class learning, internships and volunteering, and other experiences in the community.  The program focuses on employment but also addresses other transition domains with instruction tailored to students' individual transition needs and goals.

For the 2024-2025 school year, these courses will transition to Austin ISD high school home campuses so that they are available to a larger group of students.  Ms. Gregori, current teacher in the program and Special Education Department Transition Specialist, will continue to serve as a point of contact for the program and support campuses in their implementation.
